About that time, a vehicle with a loud wavy noise and a red flashing light on top approached the intersection at a rapid rate. Cars in all four directions stopped while this vehicle went through the red light. The Martians were dismayed. They assumed that the "law of the traffic light" they'd discovered had been invalidated in spite of all the data. But one of the Martians followed the speeding emergency vehicle and saw that its occupants put out a fire and saved lives. |
