How many copies are there?
In addition to some 8,000 Latin manuscripts, there are more than 5,000 manuscripts of the New Testament in Greek, the original language of the work. Each of these manuscripts contains part or all of the New Testament. With each additional manuscript, scholars get further certainty and confirmation about what the original said. Because of the number of these manuscripts, their quality and their early date, the case for the accurate copying of the New Testament is overwhelmingly superior to that of any other ancient document. Most scholars estimate that more than 99% of the text of the Bible is beyond dispute.
