None of us measures up to the standard to which we have access. Christians don't measure up to the Bible. Jews don't measure up to the Torah. The pygmy doesn't measure up to the unwritten standard that he has either. The point the Bible makes isn't that they're okay but that God is fair when He judges us all. None of us measures up to what we know is right and good. The old line, "I'm okay, you're okay," turns out to be wrong. I'm not okay, and you're not okay -- and neither is the pygmy in Africa. We all have a problem, a problem for which Jesus has offered the only solution.
