A consistent means of forgiveness in both testaments
Both Old and New Testament believers knew they had sinned, were guilty before a just and holy God, and deserved punishment and separation from Him. They also knew they needed a sacrifice, and they placed their faith in that sacrifice. The difference is that believers in the Old Testament looked forward to when the full and final payment would be made, whereas New Testament believers look back to when the Messiah actually made the payment. Their trust is in the final payment, whereas Old Testament believers trusted in the temporary sacrifices.
