Where did our sense of right and wrong come from?
Author C.S. Lewis, who at one time was an atheist, became convinced that there must be a God based on what he called the moral argument. There is a standard of morality that has existed throughout history, and it has no explanation apart from a God who created the moral order - a sense within human hearts and minds that we have a "prescription" for how we ought to live. We know there are certain things that we ought to do and certain things that we ought not to do that go beyond personal preference. The fact that these moral laws transcend all peoples, all places and all times points to a common source - a lawgiver.
