Only God could be responsible for superintending a project of that breadth, over that period of time, and for keeping it unified around a central theme. The theme that the Bible starts with is the love of God for human beings. It says in the book of Genesis that he created us in his own image and then goes on to explain how his beautiful plan for us, starting with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, was ruined and how and why we continue to "shoot ourselves in the foot." It then tells about God's great and merciful plan to offer us a meaningful life here and now as well as in Heaven for eternity. |
