What The Staff Wants
There was a time when John Johnson had the responsibility of overseeing a staff of 120 workers. He conducted countless interviews of his existing staff to find out what they really wanted from him to be happier in their work. Nothing was taboo; including what he thought would be the number one answer…..money. John was completely surprised by the countless responses that stated "We really need to know what is expected of us each day,” or some put it, “What are my daily tasks so that I know I am performing at my best." An even greater surprise was that the money issue was fourth after "An occasional reward day off for good performance," and "better supplies."
