In addition to this, a Roman guard was stationed at the tomb, and there was a one- to two-ton boulder in front of the grave. The seal of Rome was placed on the boulder. This psychological barrier in effect said, "If you touch this, we're going to get you." So, this idea of a group of scared, cowering and demoralized individuals stealing the body, overcoming heavily armed guards, moving the stone, defying Rome, inviting torture and death, is hard to swallow. In fact, if the body was stolen, we can be sure that it wasn't the disciples who did it. |
